I came across the news on how the ‘Godfather of AI’, Geoffrey Hinton, is doing a 180. The 75-year-old OG in AI & deep learning has concerns about the serious risks he now believes may follow this technology, which he’s been a huge part of.
I wondered — what have we humans unleashed?
Personally, I’m bored of the meandering AI narrative: we shift from awe to fright and back to awe again. The headlines either read, “AI will entirely change the world” or “AI will kill us all” with no in-between.
So who should we really listen to?
